Relationship with the Sustainable Business Council (SBC)
The Sustainable Business Council is our parent organisation and provides secretariat support to the Coalition. From 2020, the Coalition and SBC aligned their strategies to maximise impact, while maintaining their own distinct identities and purpose.
Sustainable Business Council
Covers the full spectrum of sustainability, including environmental (climate & increasingly nature), social (thriving people) and governance (leadership).
Has member commitments that actively demonstrate leadership in sustainable business and share a commitment to the balanced pursuit of economic growth, ecological integrity and social progress.
Provides a forum and tools for connection, collaboration, collective influence and capability building for New Zealand’s most ambitious sustainable businesses.
Climate Leaders Coalition
Focuses exclusively on climate (mitigation, adaptation, and transition).
Has a mandatory Statement of Ambition. Progress toward the Statement is reported on through an annual Snapshot Report to promote transparency. These commitments set the bar on what business climate leadership looks like across the three pillar of climate action (mitigation, adaptation and transition) and are more specific and ambitious than those of SBC.
Provides a forum and targeted engagement focussed around helping signatories to meet the Statement of Ambition.
